GONG HEI FATT CHOY (CANTONESE) GONG XI FA CHAI (MANDARIN) HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

As i am typing this, we have entered the year of TIGER! Wishing all a ROARING NEW YEAR and ROARING HEALTH.

In Malaysia every festive we the whole nation will celebrate despite the multiracial. That is the beauty of Malaysia i grown up in. We also bake goodies and cookies just like how Christmas is celebrated. We have an additional tradition which is the mandarin oranges. Exclusively during this festive. WHY? because of its name "KAM" means gold. Well also i think it is the right season for it to harvest and give out during chinese new year. Mostly from China. This year especially the pricing per box has increased due to COVID which drive to many lock downs hence ships are lesser and here ended up the end users have to pay a little premium for the goodies.

Despite the pricing, every house definitely have 1 box of it due to it's name. KAM!

ANG POW is another MUST in this festive season. Everyone will try their best to hunt for the best looking angpow even though now one can purchase the packets of your choice. I particularly prefer the ones printed from banks and insurance companies and even certain restaurants printed out too. They are beautifully designed printed envelope to put a token inside to give out to singles, kids, and even for the elderly from the young ones. A sign of respect for the elderly and for the singles and kids their yearly bonus without doing anything to earn the token. Oh yeah they need to GREET the elders to get them. Well my son got ROBUX upload in his angpow which he appreciates more than money...

So what goodies your home been baking? cooking? or bought?

I especially love the fried "ngaku" a kind of deep fried chips. Myself been baking up THIN biscotti thanks to a blogger who shared her recipes. Her name is YL and blog name is BAKE WITH PAW.

Feel free to check out her youtube and blog and try her recipes! I've made bottles of biscotti to give out for my clients and family during this season.

Lastly i would love to share about the 7th day of CNY which is coming 7th of february 2022. The seventh day of Chinese New Year is traditionally known as 人日 (Renri in hanyu pinyin). According to Chinese customs, Renri was the day human beings were created and as such, the day is dedicated to celebrate everyone's birthday.

("more angpow for the kids" )

So here i am to WISH ALL OF YOU A HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN ADVANCE!

good health and prosperity for all!
